Questions before you install
Do I need a Codex account?
Yes. The tool builds a local copy; it does not provide or share an account. Sign in inside the copy after it launches.
Will it replace my official app?
No. The source app is not modified, and the installer verifies that its app.asar stays unchanged.
Can I keep my existing tasks?
Yes. Close Codex, then run the installer with -MigrateData. It creates an independent snapshot and excludes authentication and configuration.
Is it affiliated with OpenAI?
No. It is an unofficial community project. It does not distribute official binaries or replace official support.
